Oven, Cooktop & Stove Repair
Without the proper training, expertise and special tools, the fixing of any high-end standalone or built-in gas or electric stove is not recommended. Allowing a non-expert to work on your expensive stove or cook top may not only damage it but can also be dangerous due to the sophisticated electronics and internal mechanics of this major appliance.
Common Stove Problems
- Gas burner failed to turn on
- Pilot light failed to stay on
- Electric burner not heating

- Keep all burners clean
- Keep stove top reflectors clean
- Always allow sufficient air circulation inside the oven
- Avoid using foil around stove burners as it can block air flow
- Check the oven door gasket every six months
- Inspect the oven wall insulation regularly
Safety Recommendations
- Avoid wearing loose sleeves or a dangling scarf when cooking as they could hook a pot handle or brush a burner
- Use only dry pot holders. Damp pot holder transmits heat
- Avoid opening the oven door while it is on
- If a heavy gas odor is detected, do the followings immediately
- Turn off all stove flames, activate the stove shutoff valve and main gas shutoff valve at the house meter or liquified petroleum gas tank. The shutoff valve on a gas tank oven is usually located under the cook top near where the gas line enters
- Do not touch a light switch, pick up a telephone or activate any electronic connection that may create a spark
- Use only a flashlight if needed
- Open all nearby windows and doors
- Get all people and pets out of the house
- Report the gas leak to your utility provider
